"The Abyss: Nantes in the Atlantic Slave Trade and Colonial Slavery, 1707 - 1830
The Nantes Museum of History in collaboration with the Foundation for the Memory of Slavery offers you the opportunity to retrace the slave trade past of the city of Nantes.
This exhibition revisits the history of the first slave port in France between the 17th and 19th centuries by approaching the subject from a new angle.
Immersive and partly digital, the exhibition revisits the tragic fate of the victims of slavery. It is an opportunity to discover with emotion the names of the people who lived in Nantes and who were enslaved.
A powerful and essential exhibition to help us remember the past, accessible until 19 June 2022.
