Winds of change

For this year 2018, the city of Nantes announced that the Graslin Theater will open twice more often than last season. Nearly 90 opening dates this year, against only 50 last year.

This change is due to the arrival of a new director, Alain Surrans. This new director is bringing new life to the Graslin Theater, including video broadcasts of outdoor operas and meditations for children.

In addition to the lyrical program, you will be able to attend theater’s performances, live show, dance, classical music, and much more.

The Graslin Theater is now part of the Angers Nantes Opera joint syndicate, which aims to promote lyrical art to all audiences.
 

An italian-style theater

Nantes is one of the few cities to have a 17yh century hall. The Graslin Theater has preserved its magnificient neoclassical architecture, with its 8 Corinthian colums. The theater scene welcomes many artists from Nantes but not only. This theater can accomodate up to 780 people. Inside, you can admire the blue velvet seats and a fresco on Greek mythology on the ceiling.
 

The Graslin pocket theater

On the Graslin square, you will also find the Graslin pocket theater. This theater with only 100 seats is also located on the Graslin square. For four years now, the Graslin pocket theater has offered the public many plays.
