Focus on the association Les Papiers de l’Espoir
What if a simple gesture, like sorting your papers, could help change lives? This is the successful gamble of the association Les Papiers de l'Espoir, which since 2005 has transformed tons of used paper into genuine educational opportunities for thousands of children and adults with disabilities.
Based in Vertou and Saint-Nazaire, the association operates within a 70 km radius of these two cities, thanks to a team of committed volunteers.
Their mission: To collect unused paper every week from businesses, communities, and organizations.
This paper is then resold to companies specializing in recycling, thus funding humanitarian and educational projects, both in France and internationally.
The idea is simple, but its impact is immense. One ton of paper collected, for example, means 20 school books are funded.
In 2023, the association supported the schooling of 20,000 children.
At the Hôtel Graslin, we have chosen to make a concrete commitment to this wonderful initiative by regularly donating our used paper to the association Les Papiers de l'Espoir.
This simple gesture, which is part of our eco-responsible approach, enables us to play an active part in financing the educational and humanitarian projects run by the association.
Each sheet of paper that we entrust to volunteers helps to transform our waste into hope for thousands of beneficiaries.
It's our way of giving meaning to our day-to-day actions and being part of a solidarity initiative that goes beyond the walls of our school.
The funds raised help finance a variety of very concrete actions.
In France, Papiers de l'Espoir has enabled the Handi'Chiens association to provide nine assistance dogs free of charge to people with disabilities.
Internationally, they have contributed to the opening of an educational, medical, and psychosocial center in Beirut, Lebanon.
And these are just a few examples of solidarity among many others...
Every recycled sheet of paper thus becomes a tool for the future.
Thanks to an efficient organization—with several vans and heavy goods vehicles ensuring collections and deliveries—the association pursues its mission with a strong sense of solidarity.
