A little history...

The Château des Ducs de Bretagne is a living testimony to the tumultuous history of the region. Construction began in the 13th century and it became the seat of power for the Dukes of Brittany. For decades, it witnessed rivalries and conflicts between the Dukes and the Kings of France.

During the Renaissance, the castle was renovated in an elegant style, becoming a symbol of Brittany's grandeur. It was later used as a royal residence, and then as a prison during the French Revolution.

Today, the museum tells the story of the region, from medieval Brittany to modern Nantes.
