Free guided visit to Botanic Garden of Nantes

Botanic Garden in Nantes : A green setting in the heart of the city

Located 25 minutes walk from our Best Western Hotel Graslin, the Botanic Garden offers you a free guided tour of the large greenhouses of the Botanic Garden and their remarkable collections on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Discover a treasure of botany on an area of 7.328 hectares. It is one of the only green spaces in the Loire-Atlantique department to be classified as a remarkable garden!

A little history of this exceptional site

Pierre Chirac, first doctor and steward of King Louis XV's garden, developed the Botanic Garden of Nantes. He works to grow exotic and medicinal plants. Since then, a succession of renowned botanists and doctors have deposited their seeds there to sprout a space rich in varieties, colours, smells and medicinal discoveries.

What you will see

50 000 plants are planted in spring for summer floral decoration. They come from more than one hundred varieties, and are distributed in five floral mosaics.
You can cool off around the lakes, fountains and waterfalls. Here and there, statues, sculptures and pavilions will punctuate your walk with commentary by an expert and passionate guide.
You will meet centenary trees (like the Yew Sequioa, the Virginia tulip tree or the Ginkgo Biloba).
Here is enough to breathe nature in the heart of Nantes.

Practical information
