Located 25 minutes walk from our Best Western Hotel Graslin, the Botanic Garden offers you a free guided tour of the large greenhouses of the Botanic Garden and their remarkable collections on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Discover a treasure of botany on an area of 7.328 hectares. It is one of the only green spaces in the Loire-Atlantique department to be classified as a remarkable garden!
A little history of this exceptional site
Pierre Chirac, first doctor and steward of King Louis XV's garden, developed the Botanic Garden of Nantes. He works to grow exotic and medicinal plants. Since then, a succession of renowned botanists and doctors have deposited their seeds there to sprout a space rich in varieties, colours, smells and medicinal discoveries.What you will see
50 000 plants are planted in spring for summer floral decoration. They come from more than one hundred varieties, and are distributed in five floral mosaics.You can cool off around the lakes, fountains and waterfalls. Here and there, statues, sculptures and pavilions will punctuate your walk with commentary by an expert and passionate guide.
You will meet centenary trees (like the Yew Sequoia, the Virginia tulip tree or the Ginkgo Biloba).

A reference throughout the world
In 150 years, the collections have diversified. Today there are more than 10,000 living species and 800m² of greenhouses. Nearly 50,000 flowers are planted there each season.Its large collection of camellias, its cultivation of epiphytic plants and its role in the reintroduction of rare species have earned it an international reputation!
