Since 2016, the Jardin extraordinaire de Nantes has taken up residence in the Miséry quarry in Chantenay.

It covers 3.5 hectares and offers visitors an incredible array of features: the banks of the Loire, sunshine all day long, cliffs as far as the eye can see and unique plant species.

The urban garden is a natural part of the "Green Star" project, which consists of connecting Nantes' large parks and green spaces to city walks covering dozens of kilometres.

This is how you can stroll peacefully from the Jardin des Plantes to the Jardin Extraordinaire, passing by the water mirror of the Château de Nantes.

To design the park, the landscape designers were inspired by the novels of Jules Verne, who was born in Nantes in 1828 and is famous for his literary works. Nature plays a major role and shows us its immensity.

In 2021, the Extraordinary Garden won the Grand Prix des Victoires du Paysage, which honours landscaping initiatives by local authorities and companies.
 

Activities to try in the Jardin extraordinaire in Nantes
