The most beautiful parks and gardens in Nantes

Natural treasures in every corner of the city

Nantes has 101 squares, parks and gardens. A city turned towards nature, with plenty to discover. Here's a closer look at the most beautiful parks and gardens to visit during your stay in Nantes!

The most botanical: the Jardin des Plantes

Covering 7 hectares, this is one of the four largest botanical gardens in France.

In the heart of the city, discover over 10,000 species of plants and more than 50,000 flowers.

Don't miss a stroll through the Palmarium, the oldest greenhouse (1895), home to plants from the equatorial forests. Its vast shaded walkways and water features are a delight in fine weather.

The most family-friendly: Parc de Procé

To the west of Nantes city centre, this romantic park, inaugurated in 1866, boasts large green lawns.

The Chézine, a small river that flows into the Loire, runs through the park. The Parc de Procé is particularly kid-friendly, with its bobsleigh run (the "Babybop") and the children's garden with paddling pools and various games just across the road.

It's the ideal place for a family nature break in Nantes!

The most exotic: the Jardin Extraordinaire

The Jardin Extraordinaire was created in a former granite quarry. The highlight is undoubtedly the impressive 25-metre waterfall!

From the top of the cliffs, you can enjoy a superb panoramic view of the Loire.

The park is brimming with exotic plants such as banana trees, papyrus and lotus.

The park was inspired by the world of Jules Verne's Voyages Extraordinaires, which was born very close to the park.

The most flowery: Parc de la Beaujoire

You'll love the sublime rose garden, where more than 20,000 roses from 1,600 varieties bloom in season.

You can just imagine the sweet and spicy scents... Parc de la Beaujoire is also renowned for its collection of irises and magnolias.

A festival of colour! Special mention should be made of the belvedere and its view over the Erdre, one of the tributaries of the Loire.

Your accommodation in Nantes city centre

Like the Jardin Extraordinaire, the Best Western in Nantes is inspired by the world of Jules Vernes.

Each floor of our charming hotel is themed after a novel by the famous author, who was born in Nantes.

The colourful headboards and graphic wallpaper give each of the 47 rooms an elegant, cosy feel. You'll love the sweet and savoury buffet breakfast served in the luminous "Jules Vernesque" sea-faring room.

As a bonus, our three-star hotel is ideally located in Nantes city centre: all the points of interest are within walking distance. For example, the Machines de l'Île is just a 10-minute walk away!
